Fri, 26 Aug 2013The Wikimedia Foundation, the not-for-profit body that operates Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia that is one of the world’s most used websites, is looking for an intern to join its recruitment team for the autumn.

An unpaid position, the role will be based in San Francisco and can count as credit as part of university courses.

Wikimedia says it prefers candidates with one year completed of a degree “in a related field” and one year of “related experience”, as well as “proven experience working with diverse people at multiple levels and locations, including cultural & global awareness”.

The full job spec can be seen on Wikimedia's recruitment and careers site.

Wikimedia employs more than 150 staff and contractors globally, and lists among perks “appropriate fuel for thinking and coding (aka, a pantry full of treats) and monthly massages to help staff relax”, as well as working alongside an “international staff speaking dozens of languages from around the world”.

Wikimedia’s corporate information also includes a list and photos of current staff, including its HR and recruitment team. It is also recruiting for several other paid and intern positions including an executive director and vice president of engineering.
