BA’s national job index, BA-X, remained at 148 for August, unchanged month-on-month, having been one point higher in June, and 10 higher in January.

The agency also reports the number of people unemployed in the country rising month-on-month by 32,000 to 2.95m, although the unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.8%.

The figure contrasts somewhat with the Federal Statistics Office’s release today which shows 2.28m unemployed persons in July, down by 40,000 on the month, making for an unemployment rate of 5.4%, down 0.1 percentage points.
