The club, which plays in the Evo-Stik League Division One South, on the eighth step of the English football league pyramid, will be sponsored by gap for the 2013/14 season which starts next month.

Founded in 1857, Sheffield FC is one of only two clubs to hold the ‘Order of Merit’ from world football governing body FIFA – the other being Real Madrid.

Other sporting sponsorships from gap include its support of World Snooker Championship semi-finalist Ricky Walden, and its ownership, as of 2008, of the Welsh football club now known as gap Connah’s Quay Nomads.
