Delayed £1bn GPS framework date pushed back to 1 August

Tue, 30 Jul 2013A much-delayed Government Procurement Service (GPS) recruitment framework agreement for nursing and care workers, which could be worth up to £1bn in total to suppliers, is now due to go live on 1 August, five months later than originally planned.

The Agency Nurses and Social Care Workers (RM970) framework has now been awarded, according to the GPS July procurement update, published yesterday, although it has not been announced publically by the GPS which firms are on the list. A full list of recruiters on the existing RM970 framework, which is listed as expiring tomorrow, is available online.

As reported by recruiter.co.uk at the beginning of June, the framework should have gone live in March, but in March this launch date was changed to May, and then in subsequent months amended to further into the summer.

The framework, which is estimated to be worth in the range of £500m-£1bn in total to a maximum of 220 suppliers, has been the subject of legal proceedings. A Cabinet Office spokesperson told recruiter.co.uk previously that the GPS could not comment further on these proceedings, and did not immediately respond to our request for an update on the situation this morning.

The GPS update also notes that Locum Doctors (RM1570) and Contingent LabourONE (RM960) have been awarded in the past month, and that Non Permanent Staff (RM692) is due to expire on 22 August, but is likely to be extended “to ensure continuity of service during the implementation period for Contingent LabourONE”, with an update due “shortly”.
