Singapore’s Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) is to re-launch the Centre for Enabled Living as SG Enable, working with people with disabilities and a particular focus on “enhancing employability and employment options”.

The new agency will begin its work in Q3 this year, and will also deal with administering government grants and support to persons with disabilities and carers.

Previously, Singapore has made a grant of up to $120 (£64) a month available to help lower-income families with a member who has at least “moderate disabilities” to take on a foreign domestic worker.

Acting minister for the MSF Chan Chun Sing says: “Our vision is a Singapore where persons with disabilities are integrated, empowered to reach their potential and become contributing members of our society.”

The country also recently set out a workforce plan to deal with its ageing demographic.
