Tue, 5 Mar 2013Young people who are involved in four or more work experience placements or activities where they engage with employers will earn a fifth more than their less-exposed peer by their mid-20s, a new report finds.
The document, published by the Education and Employers Taskforce, finds that those young adults with more access to careers experiences will earn an average of £23.1k by their mid-20s, compared to £19.1k for others.
However, this gap is below that seen in the US for a similar breakdown of young workers, where it can be anywhere between 6.5% and 25%.
Last week, recruiter.co.uk reported from a Recruitment Society event, as Jayne Cullen, the business director of Graduate Solutions at recruitment advertising agency TMP Worldwide, argued greater ease of access to entry-level careers information was needed across the UK.
