The Association of Labour Providers (ALP) has appointed Kevin Roberts as non-executive chair.

Having recently been director general of the National Farmers Union, Roberts joins the ALP following a career within the food and agricultural sectors. He was previously chief executive officer at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board and director general of the Meat and Livestock Commission.

David Camp, director of ALP, says: “Labour providers play a vital role in the UK economy by reliably and cost effectively supplying workers to pick, produce and pack our food. I am confident that Kevin will drive forward standards to ensure that the provision of agency and seasonal labour to the UK food and agricultural sectors is recognised as a model of good practice nationally and internationally.”
