In what is described as a “highly fragmented” US staffing market, the firms have “virtually no geographic overlap”, with Elwood’s chief executive officer Mark Elwood commenting: “This transaction combines the service capabilities, technologies, geographic reach and best practices of two successful companies.”

Elwood’s network has over 60 branches spread across 11 US states, while SOS has 120 offices across the country, and also does some work in Canada. The combined company’s internal staff will total nearly 1,000 people, serving over 6,000 clients.

The firms’ combined annual revenues total over $750m (£495m).
