And now for something completely different: NASA goes Gangnam Style

If you thought your employer branding needed a little refreshing, why not take a leaf out of US space agency NASA’s book? A YouTube song and video featuring interns in a parody of South Korean singer PSY’s hugely popular ‘Gangnam Style’ recorded at NASA’s Johnson Space Centre has become an internet sensation, receiving more than four million views.

The full YouTube video can be seen at the bottom of the page.

Great fun, but for one intern at the Johnson Space Centre – one of 10 NASA field centres to provide opportunities for college students – the video has a serious purpose.

He said: “Massachusetts Institute of Technology did a parody, and we thought we could probably one-up those guys and show that NASA is cool, and that is what we did.”

Another intern added: “This was a way to connect with the public in a format that was meaningful to them”.

Expect a rush of similar videos from such fun-loving organisations as the North Korean Tourist Board…
