New jobs have been promised in Dublin at IT security firm Mandiant and at medical devices firm Nypro Healthcare in Bray, 20km south of Dublin, and across the UK with cinema group Picturehouse and restaurant chain Pizza Hut.

The acquisition of Picturehouse, a 21-branch cinema chain, by Cineworld will see the company continue to operate independently, and is “currently exploring opportunities in 10 locations”.

Managing director Lyn Goleby says that there “should be a lot of new jobs at Picturehouse in the next few years”. A company spokesperson tells Recruiter that plans are still at a very early stage, and it would be difficult to give a precise timeline.

Pizza Hut plans to create 2,000 UK jobs by opening 100 new takeaway outlets by the end of 2014, with a new franchise incentive scheme in place that it hopes will see total investment of £20m committed. The company is owned by US firm Yum! Brands. 

Nypro’s announcement of 100 “new high quality jobs”, supported by development agency IDA Ireland, comes on the back of creating 160 new roles in the last 18 months and will bring total employment by the company in Ireland to 460.

IDA Ireland was also involved in Mandiant’s announcement, which also promised 100 new roles, as it is set to open an engineering and security operations centre in Dublin in an area of the jobs markets that has been brighter than others in many regions.
