Apex Hotels has launched a Modern Apprenticeship (MA) scheme to attract school or college leavers from Edinburgh and Dundee to work in the hospitality industry.

The group has four hotels in Edinburgh and the Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa in Dundee and will be looking to train applicants in areas including housekeeping, food and beverage, reception and the kitchen.

Since last week’s launch, Danielle Ramsay, group recruitment manager for Apex Hotels, tells Recruiter there has been a lot of interest in the MAs. “The key for the candidates is the idea of gaining a qualification for the work they do while also gaining employment,” she says.

Applicants must be aged between 16 and 24, and be capable of achieving a level 2/3/4 Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in their relevant area through work-based assessment.
