Fri, 20 Jan 2012More IT and engineering candidates than ever are open to contract roles and as such CV databases must be kept better up-to-date, according to a survey of over 15,000 candidates from recruitment data exchange iProfile.
While the number of people whose first preference was for a contract role stands at 14%, a total of 56% were available for such jobs.
However, this openness towards contract roles may be out of convenience rather than choice. iProfile also highlights Office for National Statistics data which shows that in Q3 2011, the number of people saying there were in a temporary role because they did not want a permanent job decreased by just over 11%, compared with Q3 2010.Managing director of iProfile, Mark Callahan, says “These results point to an increasing need to maintain a more up to date CV database.
“Candidate experience and skills will need updating more frequently now with many contractors changing roles every three to six months.”
