Working time changes proposed for London_2

Changes to working time are being proposed in a new report to ease congestion in the capital

Transport for London (TfL) is considering encouraging large employers to stagger their working hours to reduce rush-hour congestion.

The proposal was made in TfL’s 20-year policy vision aimed at keeping London moving. In it the transport authority determined to change Londoners’ behaviour by offering positive incentives for them to work at different times, for example it would consider raising fares on the most congested public transport routes.

Peter Hendy, TfL commissioner, says: “Part of the solution is to get people to do what they do now more intelligently.”

The paper has been passed for consultation among stakeholder groups.
