Haulage firm eases recruitment problems
Fife haulage firm Wishart International has launched a driver agency to ease recruitment problems for itself and local companies.
The agency provides recruits with four weeks’ paid training in multi-drop work, which comprises two weeks of observing an experienced driver and two weeks of practice, before they are hired out or used by the haulier.
Wishart managing director Kevin Huskie said: “Many new drivers can’t get permanent work as they don’t have on-the-road experience, but they can’t get this experience as many agencies are looking for two or more years holding a valid licence.”
