The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) has attracted some open, public criticism lately from existing, very experienced recruiters regarding some management decisions that have been seen as unprofessional.
One would expect a members’ trade association such as the REC to be horrified about that and for it to engage in honest dialogue with a view to dispelling those criticisms or apologising to its membership if mistakes have been made.
What does the REC do? They remove those members that have dared to ask perfectly reasonable questions from the REC IRP LinkedIn site. Hardly the actions of an organisation that has nothing to hide. How long before those not happy with the way the REC is being managed are
expelled from the REC altogether?
While for now the REC might still claim to be the largest and most experienced association representing the recruitment industry, it is looking increasingly like a dinosaur with younger, brighter associations nipping at their heels.
Acting like a dictatorship is hardly going to win them any friends and hopefully only make other members ask what are they hiding. The sooner
the better I say.
