Half of Welsh workers are confident about finding new jobs

Half of workers in the South-West and Wales are confident about finding new work, according to a new survey.

The survey, from recruitment communications firm TMP Worldwide, found that 53% of workers were confident about finding a new job.

Nearly two-thirds (64%) of South-West employees are likely to change jobs in the next year and 77% of Welsh workers are actively seeking new work.

Less than a third (31%) of employees in the South-West are feeling insecure in their current role, although 55% of Welsh respondents worried about the stability of their jobs.

Andrew Wilkinson, chief executive of TMP Worldwide, said: "It is great to know that employees are still optimistic about their ability to find a new job, even though the economy is causing concerns about job security. Organisations must recognise this concern and seek to reassure their staff, where possible, that their futures are safe and secure."
