The GMB steps in to remind agencies of their legal duty as strike action looms at sports retailer
The GMB has written to three recruitment agencies in Wigan to warn them of the impending industrial dispute at JJB Sports’ warehouse and of their legal duty to stay out of it.
Paul McCarthy GMB regional secretary says: “GMB members know full well that JJB are collaborating with a range of agencies to illegally break the strike. All this activity by JJB to break the strike is an illegal attempt to run a coach and horses through the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Business Regulations 2003. GMB intend to mount a vigorous campaign to expose these illegal plans.”
GMB plans to install surveillance grade cameras on each picket line to collect evidence.
