The majority of UK workers (70%) feel that their employer either takes their efforts at work for granted, or expects them to feel grateful for having that job, according to a study by recruitment process outsourcing firm hyphen.

One fifth of workers report they are working longer hours than before the recession, 17% have taken a pay cut and another 17% have had to shoulder more responsibility than before.

When asked what would motivate employees to stay in their current job 57% replied flexible benefits, 38% a better work/life balance, and 32% clear career development opportunities.
