Hauliers told to clean up their act

Employers in haulage and logistics were yesterday urged to tidy up their acts and provide more attractive places for women to work if the sector is to beat the skills shortage.

Former transport minister Steven Norris told the Women in Transport event in London: “Many transport offices are 20 years out of date. Operators need to clear them up, taking all the sexist material down.”

The event, supported by the Freight Transport Association and Skills for Logistics, looked at methods the sector could use to make it more attractive to women. See Recruiter 31 October for more details.
