Garner stresses the need to be flexible and appreciate that you are operating on a 24-hour basis. "We had to make all our systems scalable and solid to be able to do that," he says. He adds that conference calls are held three times a week, which includes a 10.30pm UK video conference call with his down under colleagues, reciprocating with a late night for early morning UK time. "The key factor is to make sure that they never feel like they are a remote office — it is a global business, not a London business with an Australian office."
