Tesco degree
Tesco to offer degree in retail.
Companies are set to use bespoke degrees to attract skilled workers, as Tesco announced the launch of it’s Foundation Degree in Retail. The course was designed in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of the Arts London.
It will involve workshops, work based learning and online tutorials, studying retail law, leadership in retail, retail environment, consumer behaviour, customer marketing and managing information.
David Potts, retail and logistics director at Tesco said: “We have designed the Foundation degree to fit the needs of Tesco, in terms of student selection, course content and delivery model, and our new students are already telling us how it meets their individual needs.
“The degree has been designed by business, for business, and Tesco is proud to be continuing to shape the future of training for the wider retail sector.”
The news comes after government began allowing businesses to award qualifications equal to GCSEs, A-levels and degrees. Fast food restaurant chain McDonalds was one of the first companies to implement a scheme, offering a management course equivalent to an A-level.
