Tesco’s new apprentices to start work next week

Supermarket Tesco has announced that 510 apprentices will begin the new Bakery and Delicatessen Skills Apprenticeship scheme on 31 January.

Supermarket Tesco has announced that 510 apprentices will begin the new Bakery and Delicatessen Skills Apprenticeship scheme on 31 January.

Delicatessen apprentices will work towards gaining a City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Retail Skills for the vocational aspect of the programme, and can also attain Key Skills for Maths and English, delivered instore by YMCA Training.

Bakery apprentices can gain City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Proficiency in Baking Industry Skills through a specialised scheme developed and designed in partnership with Improve, the Sector Skills Council for Bakery.

Meanwhile, Tesco will be offering 13 retail apprentices the chance to shadow senior executives at the supermarket’s head office.
