Temps skills are being wasted_2

A survey finds that temporary workers believe employers are under-using their skills

Talented temporary workers are having their skills wasted, according to a study by Birmingham-based recruiter Katie Bard.

The survey found that just 12% of temporary workers believe their skills are being used to the full. It found that 54% of temps believe they are as skilled as their permanent colleagues, whilst 28% believe they are better qualified.

The survey found that 41% of temps think that the most annoying thing about temping is being treated differently.

Verity Stokes, team leader at Katie Bard, says: “Once the temporary worker is in place it’s absolutely vital that businesses recognise that they can add more to the company than just filing and making the tea.”

According to the survey 49% of client companies felt temps were of greater or equal value for money than their permanent staff.
