Extra Personnel changes status of its temps
Midlands and North-West recruiter Extra Personnel has changed the employment status of 6,000 of its temporary workers who, from November, are now directly employed by the firm.

The workers will be known as ‘flexi-workers’ and will have guaranteed hours of work and full benefits including personal accident insurance, pension scheme, holiday club and maternity/paternity pay.

The scheme will apply to all workers across all Extra Personnel’s 17 offices and at all levels of employment, from semi-skilled to managerial positions.

Extra is one of the first of the independent recruitment businesses in the UK to make this move and directly employ its temporary workforce. However, managing director Jeremy McGrail believes many recruitment agencies will follow suit.
