IR35 advice could have saved contractor thousands

Sound business advice and professional support could have saved an IT contractor £27,000 in employment taxes under IR35, according to the Professional Contractors Group (PCG).

The statement comes following the recent news reported on Contractor UK earlier this month of the contractor’s IR35 defeat at the Special Commissioners.

As the not-for-profit trade association representing freelancers and contractors, PCG is a source of expert and practical advice for freelancers and was originally set up to help its members cope with the implications of IR35 and other tax legislation affecting them.

PCG has a number of expert guides available to freelancers. The Guide to IR35, available to members only, is a comprehensive source of information and advice from a contractor’s perspective and includes relevant information about the real working arrangements for all parties involved – clients, agencies and contractors.

PCG’s Guide to Freelancing covers a range of topics from business formation to taxation, accounting, banking and insurances, marketing, winning contracts, managing cash flow and personal finance advice; everything freelancers need to know about running a business. It is free to non-members to download at www.pcg.org.uk.
