Take negative comments with a pinch of salt, says Nichols

Negative comments posted by candidates about their experiences with employers should be taken with a pinch of salt, according to the UK and Ireland recruitment director at global consultancy firm Accenture.

Annabel Nichols told Recruiter that while Accenture monitored what was being said about the company on social media, it didn’t go onto the sites to respond.

“You have to take this sort of thing with a bit of pinch of salt because a disgruntled candidate will say the same sort of things about other organisations,” said Nichols.

However, Nichols said that a negative experience could do “untold damage” to an organisation’s employer brand, and this highlighted the need for recruiters to provide “an excellent” candidate experience.
