Spencer Ogden Energy launches

David Spencer-Percival

Energy recruiter Spencer Ogden Energy has opened for business.

The company, which began trading on Monday, specialises in oil & gas, renewable energy and nuclear recruitment.

The firm has been set up by Sir Peter Ogden, founder of computer firm Computacenter, and David Spencer-Percival, one of the founding members of recruitment consultancy Huntress.

Chief executive Spencer-Percival says: “Simply put, there are not enough qualified and well trained engineers to build the infrastructure required for new nuclear power plants and wind turbines, and to continue exploiting the traditional energy sources, such as oil and gas.

“We have already identified opportunities within each energy sector and we believe that skills are transferable across the energy sectors. We predict a massive shift in the UK workforce and we will help address the skills gap by attracting bright young graduates, who used to only consider careers in financial services.”

Sir Peter Ogden adds: “Crucially we see a clear business opportunity in a sector where it is expected to require £200bn of investment in the UK alone, alongside significant government support over the next few years.”
