Social media 'still in geek space' relatively speaking

In your recent issue of Recruiter (29 September, Web comment, p6), Matt Alder questioned my judgement on social media in recruitment, when ironically I was basing my conclusion from his presentation at the Online Recruitment Marketing Council on 31 August.

In this presentation, he stated that after the hype of social media we are now in a “plateau of productivity”. Therefore, your reference to social media not being a ’seismic shift’ is relative.

My reference to social media being more relevant to ’tech savvy people’ was made by his statement that social media is “still in geek space”, which was supported by further evidence he gave.
