Snow day: Recruiters defy snow

There may be “Arctic conditions” outside but recruitment goes on.

There may be “Arctic conditions” outside but recruitment goes on.

Steve Wyeth, director at sdw recruitment in Southampton, told Recruiter that the snow was not going to stop him from getting into work: “We have a good four or five inches. I have got into work okay - it took a lot longer and the roads are a complete nightmare but I got there in the end.

For Jim McGlashan, managing director at Glasgow recruiter Brunel International, the adverse conditions were snow problem: “There is hardly any snow. The cars are taking the snow away. The transport is still running - there’s not a problem.”

Other areas of the country have not been so lucky. Steven Newbold, director at Dome Recruitment, says: “I am at home with the kids. I can’t get anywhere because I am snowed in. I am in Surrey so I can’t get to the office. We only have two people in the office. There are no trains as well. We have had over a foot of snow here.”
