In a bid to fight childhood obesity a Scottish slim Santa has been telling kids at a shopping centre in Edinburgh he has been on a diet.

Rather than push a cushion under his red suit, 80-year-old Bill Winton wants kids to think it is better to be thin than overweight.

Bosses at Wetside Plaza Centre in Edinburgh, fully support Bill’s bid to ban fat Father Christmases and his reply to surprised children who comment on his disappearing girth: “Santa’s been on a diet.”
