Professionals working in financial services need to improve their soft skills, and managers need to become better at managing people and relationships, the director of education for the Financial Services Skills Council told a London audience last Thursday.
These particular needs represent portions of a wider skills gap within financial services, said Sam Rees-Adams, speaking to a Reuters conference of HR professionals in financial services. Recent research into skills needs within the UK's financial services found that 7% of all industry staff were not proficient at their jobs, which equates to roughly 80,000 people.
