Most coaching assignments are focusing on skills development and competence for HR professionals, according to a report from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

The report shows most coaching assignments were found to focus on developing skills and competence (67%), with supporting career transition (54%) another key area. Improving understanding of business, commercial and financial issues (26%) was a low priority.

This year, 77% of firms report coaching activity, compared to 90% in 2009.
