Sharing the experience

US-based VisualCV has made it possible for its users to more easily share their VisualCVs with business and social media sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.

Updates can still be made centrally and the VisualCV link can be sent across to almost any social network using a share function in just three clicks.

The new features follow the company’s identification of “social netjobbing” as a trend. Phillip Merrick, chairman and co-founder of VisualCV, described social netjobbing to Recruiter as the use of social media networks for career advancement, “whether someone is actively jobseeking or just enhancing their online profile and footprint”, he said.

More than 100,000 people in 122 countries use VisualCV, which allows them to combine CV information with images, video and other links. Big name employers and recruiters using the service include Amazon.com, Citrix, Heidrick & Struggles and Microsoft. Merrick says that as VisualCV allows candidates to embed work, it can almost replace a first stage interview.

Australian-based recruitment firm Hunter Executive has adopted the VisualCV platform as a selling point. It differentiates its approach by setting down a condition that all candidates build a VisualCV.

Merrick said: “We are seeing so much activity and knowledge-sharing now through sites like Twitter that help people connect without professional industry involvement. We think it’s important for recruiters to engage as early in the process as they can to show how much value they can still add.”
