Sexual harassment

Poll finds 10% of workers suffer harassment

More than one in ten workers feel they have been sexually harassed, according to a poll by Royal SunAlliance.

The research found that two-thirds of workers felt that sexual innuendoes constituted harassment and three-fifths drew the line at a colleague putting a hand on their knee.

It found that nearly three-fifths of workers said the nation was obsessed with political correctness and that any incident could create a lawsuit.

Royal SunAlliance’s Aaron Devitt says: "The ramifications can be far reaching - employee welfare, legal costs and reputation damage could severely impact upon a businesses’ ability to trade."
