Key drivers for employers moving to Glasgow are improved quality of life, cheaper living and easy access to the countryside, according to research by Glasgow’s International Financial Services District.
The research found that 25% of those looking for professional work in Glasgow are non-Scots. It found that 68% were looking for work in the financial sector.
It found that 48% of Scots looking to move to the region were senior and middle management level, 66% of non-Scots looking to move to Glasgow were in middle or senior management positions and mostly in their 30s.
Richard Cairns, head of social and economic initiatives for Glasgow City Council, says: "The growth of financial centres, such as Glasgow, outside London is enabling people to combine a high quality of life with career progression. The rising cost of housing and living in the capital is making the alternative all the more attractive."
