Scottish Power is keen to recruit graduates and apprentices to fill 1,500 new roles in a bid to help lower the age profile of the industry, according to a spokesperson for the energy giant.
News website Sky.com reports the energy firm has unveiled plans to create 1,500 jobs over the next decade.
A Scottish Power spokesperson told Recruiter: “We are making a £3bn investment in our transmission networks to support the growth of renewable energy. That will create 1,500 jobs over the next 10 years. A lot of those jobs will be in Scottish Power and some of these will be in the supply chain.
“Some of those jobs will be back office but we have an ageing profile so we are keen to recruit people into graduate and apprenticeship positions. Our long-term strategy is to replace the skilled workforce we have that will be coming towards the end of their working life. It’s not just Scottish Power — we have an ageing industry. We are looking at engineers in high-skilled jobs.
“We are looking at taking on 200 apprentices/graduates in the next three to four years. We have apprenticeships in all different areas of the business. As well as recruiting from schools, we are looking to recruit from universities. We are looking to recruit people from other industries who are looking to retrain.”
