The Scottish professional networking start-up KILTR, which has just secured a third round of funding, is in discussions with a number of recruitment firms in Scotland and will build functionality and tools to meet recruiters’ needs as the site develops.

KILTR.com is still in beta testing following its launch last year but has already announced its 10,000th user and will officially launch early next year.
The site is the brainchild of chief executive Brian Hughes and chief technology officer, Stewart Fraser. With almost seven times as many people with Scottish heritage living outside Scotland as there is living in the country, the focus for KILTR is to harness the power of social networking to support the growth of Scottish businesses on an international scale.

“KILTR provides a one-stop resource for Scots and affinity Scots to build on existing shared interests and develop strong, mutually beneficial working relationships without geographical limitations,” said Hughes.

He told Recruiter that as far as recruitment is concerned, the initial strategy is to develop close working relationships with a select number of agencies: “The long-term aim will be to provide recruiters and job hunters from around the world with a quality recruitment tool contained within the KILTR network at excellent value for money, comparative to others currently operating in the market.”

Many recruiters are signing up and already posting vacancies on an ad hoc basis while a number of users are proactively looking for jobs on the site. To date, the membership consists of senior business representatives with C-level and managerial executives, business founders and owners making up 65%.

As KILTR moves out of beta, the company will begin its global push and has registered its trademark in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
