Bank of Scotland finds jobs market continues to grow

The Scottish jobs market continued to grow in August but the rate of growth slowed again from the June peak, according to the latest Bank of Scotland Labour Market Report.

The report found that demand for both permanent and temporary staff was strongest in engineering and construction, as well as in nursing, medical and care occupations.

Edinburgh registered the steepest fall in permanent staff availability but was top when it came to rises in temporary staff's pay.
Martin Ellis, chief economist at BoS, says despite the tail-off in growth, the August reading was "still indicative of a strong rate of expansion”.

He says: "The jobs market in Scotland remains tight, with skill shortages reported across a range of sectors adding upward pressure on to wage levels."
