A Scottish gangmaster business pleaded guilty to contravening the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 7 May.
Soul Recruitment based at Unit 7, Newington Business Centre, Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh was found to be operating as a gangmaster business without a licence and fined £200.
Soul Recruitment supplied a workforce of around six workers a week between December 2007 until April 2008 to a beef processing plant in the West Lothian area, without the required gangmaster licence.
Paul Whitehouse, chairman of the GLA, says: “We will continue to take action against those who are operating outside the law, as well as the licensed gangmasters who flout the rules.”
