Eileen Simpson, head of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's sector groups, died on 6 February after a short illness.
Simpson was a well-known figure in the industry, having run her own medical agency before joining the Federation of Recruitment Employment Services, the forerunner of the REC, in 1995.
"Eileen dedicated 12 years to the REC and was a much loved and highly respected member of the team," said a message sent out to members.
"She was a great friend to many at the REC: entertaining, kind, generous in both spirit and time."
The REC closed its offices in London on the afternoon of 15 February, the day before her funeral, as a mark of respect. The family requests no flowers, but a tribute fund has been set up in Eileen's name with the Roy Castle Lung Foundation.
