Former Morgan McKinley chief executive Robert Thesiger on Wednesday (14 July) formally launched his new City-focused recruitment business, BRUIN Financial.

Established in March, the financial services recruitment firm now has 31 staff. “We have about 73 clients now,” Thesiger told Recruiter. “For four-and-a-half months, that’s good going.”

Currently, BRUIN operates only in London, however Thesiger foresees expansion to Asia-Pacific. “It’s all about timing, and finding the right people,” he said.

The name BRUIN, which means ‘brown’ in the Afrikaans language, has family connotations for Thesiger; it was his grandfather’s nickname and is his son’s nickname. He joked was there was no relation between the name, which also means ‘bear’, and the expression ‘bear market’, which generally refers to a period of falling investment prices and economic pessimism.
