Powerful Wave: Google’s application has potential

Specific applications for the recruitment sector of Google’s recently announced Wave application may yet be unclear but there is no doubt that it will be a powerful communication and collaboration tool.

Google describes a Wave as equal parts “conversation and document”. Alan Whitford, managing partner of the Abtech Partnership and co-founder of the Recruitment Community Europe, told Recruiter that he sees the potential of Wave as an interactive communication tool for candidates and clients on a campaign basis.

“[For example], embed a Wave in a dedicated web page/microsite for a specific role/project, where communication and delivery of job spec, CV and other supporting information could be exchanged in a ‘live’ environment, perhaps even with video information about the candidate or the employer,” he said.

Google told Recruiter that it is hoping to make a public launch of Wave by the end of the year. In the meantime, it is inviting developers to work with the application, saying it is looking forward to feedback from its “early tinkerers”.
