International recruitment giant Kelly Services has seen revenues rise in its results for the first quarter of the year.

Revenues have risen by 19% on the same quarter last year to $1.3bn (£79m).

Earnings from operations for the first quarter of 2011 was $1.6bn (£97m), compared to losses from operations of $1.6m reported for the first quarter of 2010. Included in the results from operations are restructuring charges of $4m (£2.44m) in the first quarter of 2011 and $4.4m (£2.68m) the first quarter of 2010. Excluding restructuring charges, earnings from operations were $5.6m (£3.4m) in Q1 2011 and $2.8m (£1.7m) in Q1 2010.

Carl T Camden, president and chief executive, says: “We continue to see evidence of a solid, sustainable economic recovery. Kelly’s revenue growth for the period certainly confirms that we are on track for a profitable year.

“Until full confidence is restored, and employers remain cautious about ramping up too aggressively, this environment seems to favour the staffing industry – and we intend to capitalise on the opportunities presented.”
