Reservists boost employability

Reservists serving in Afghanistan gain up to £18,432 of relevant Civvy Street experience, according to a study for the Ministry of Defence.

Reservists serving in Afghanistan gain up to £18,432 of relevant Civvy Street experience, according to a study for the Ministry of Defence.

The study found that an officer gained skills from military training that would cost £18,432 to buy, while corporals gained skills worth more than £8,000, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Narinder Uppal, head of awards at the Chartered Management Institute, which endorsed the study, told Recruiter that being a reservist boosted an individual’s value to employers.

“If they are developing their core management and leadership skills, the ability to manage themselves and manage information and the ability to lead people all these are essential for good management and leadership whether it is in the army or in Civvy Street.”
