Legal recruiter BCL Legal has received a slap on the wrist from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) over adverts it placed in trade magazines The Lawyer and Law Gazette.
The Manchester-based firm got into hot water for suggesting it placed "three candidates to every one placed by our competitors in the North" and was "No.1 in the North".
Competitor G2 Legal complained to the ASA on the grounds that there was not sufficient evidence to back up these claims.
James Batt, a director at BCL, told Recruiter: "It was unfortunate that we haven't got any cast-iron evidence to back it up in the form of an independent survey."
