Reference guide
HR technology firm refero has launched a best practice guide to employee references, to help organisations reduce their exposure to legal action, and reduce costs.
The Good Referencing Guide, published in association with legal experts Field Seymour Parkes, tells organisations how to manage their references efficiently and effectively, thus speeding up access to references for third parties, reducing administration costs, preventing reference fraud and reducing exposure to legal action.
Henry Chuks, refero managing director, says that the area of preparing and managing references can be a minefield for the non-expert, which is why his firm has prepared the guide – as a useful free reference manual for HR staff and for line managers.
"Employers run the risk of legal action when they prepare references for departing employees that are inaccurate, misleading and/or motivated by malice, and such legal action can costs employers thousands, not to mention the damage to their reputation."
