Reed donates £2m to school_2

Recruitment chief turns philanthropist

Founder and chairman of Reed Executive Recruitment Alec Reed has donated £2m of his own money into the West London Academy.

The former comprehensive school in West London will specialise in enterprise and sport, and will include nursery, primary and high schools.

It is one of nine academies in the area to benefit from private sponsorship as well as a £10m boost from the Department for Education and Skills.

As chairman of the governors, Reed has worked with the trustees and headteacher on the plans for the school. “This is a very important project for me,” said Reed.

“We are determined that this resource should be for local people as far as possible because we want to be of service to the community. It’s a unique chance to establish a model example of inclusive education from three to 93.
