At last someone from a recruitment background comes out and says what a lot of people have been saying for a long time but the recruitment agency sector has failed to take notice of (Recruiter, Bloggers with Bite, 14 October). Roger [Philby] is spot on and I speak as someone who has worked on both sides of the fence.

This recession is going to shake up the recruitment sector like it has never been shaken before and I hope people are ready for it. Good recruitment agencies will survive and may well continue to thrive as long as they do something to reinvent themselves.

But, and here’s the best bit as far as I am concerned, many recruiters are starting to ask if they can do the same job themselves and in many instances the answer is, yes they can for less money and with a little investment in a good ATS solution with better results.
Happy days are here at last!
