Recruitment activity is picking up across the banking, financial services, retail and fmcg (fast-moving consumer goods) sectors, according to the latest professional talent spotlight from multi-sector recruiter Badenoch & Clark.

In the banking and finance sector, Guy Emmerson, associate director, banking & financial services, Badenoch & Clark, says that application numbers for permanent roles are falling as finance professionals turn to temporary contracts. Emmerson adds that permanent roles are increasingly harder to fill with day rates remaining steady and candidates being offered 50% higher earnings.

In the logistics sector, Nicola Linkleter, executive director, procurement, says that recently more retailers seeking senior level logistics professionals as part of a drive for more efficiency and savings as

organisations shift their focus to sustainability and their carbon footprint, while in the fmcg sector, as consumers gain more confidence with the recession is nearing an end, she is seeing a significant increase in demand for junior executives.

While in IT, Neil Wilson, managing director, Badenoch & Clark, says IT budgets are beginning to thaw.

“The prospect of an end to the recession is encouraging many businesses to relax controls on IT project work, leading to an increased demand for business analysts, project managers and implementation professionals.”
