Loach to direct gritty migrant workers tale

A film telling the story of a young woman who sets up an agency recruiting migrant workers is to be screened on Channel 4 tonight (Monday).

It’s a Free World, directed by renowned director Ken Loach, tells the story of a single mother who sets up the business recruiting migrant workers with the help of a friend.

At first Angie turns away anyone without the necessary work permits but she is soon persuaded to bend the rules.

The film will be screened at 9pm on Monday on Channel 4 and is out on DVD on 1 October.

Loach is tantamount to royalty in the world of British film. He has directed Cathy Come Home, Sweet Sixteen, Kes and The Wind That Shakes The Barley.
